The lead single from the new album, 'Dirrty' revealed this new sexual power and it became a chart smash around the world as did the subsequent singles including the sweeping ballad, 'Beautiful'. By the time she released her second studio album 'Stripped', Christina's image and style had gone from glossy and clean cut to gritty and sexual. Seeking a place in the current Latin pop explosion she decided to record a Spanish-language album called 'Mi Reflejo' and the same year issued a Christmas album. The follow-up, 'What a Girl Wants,' was the first number one single of the new millennium. Her self-titled debut album was released in the summer of 1999 and with teen-oriented dance-pop all the rage, the lead single 'Genie in a Bottle' shot to the top of the U.S charts and the album soon followed suit and went on to sell in excess of ten million copies worldwide.
